Following the June 2024 earthquake, UN-Habitat, in partnership with national and local authorities and with the generous support of the Government of Japan, is working to restore safe learning environments for children in Kashmar, Khorasan Razavi Province.

The Kashmar Project goes beyond rehabilitation by applying the Build Back Better approach to strengthen the resilience of educational infrastructure against future earthquakes and climate-related risks. Through multi-hazard vulnerability assessments, resilient rehabilitation, green school initiatives, and technical knowledge exchange opportunities, the project aims to create learning spaces that are safer, more sustainable, and better prepared for future challenges.
